Chris Marshall
Software Engineer
I’m Chris, a software engineer based in Glasgow, Scotland. I build backend services in TypeScript, Node.js and PostgreSQL: REST APIs, real-time event-driven services and Docker-containerised systems. Most recently a software engineer at Resolvo Development, shipping 40+ client applications end to end.
Durable state, retries, idempotent writes, and logs you can actually debug from.

Experience
Asda ExpressCurrentRetail Colleague · Part-timeJul 2026 — PresentScotland
- Working in store part-time alongside my Computing Science degree at Glasgow Caledonian University.
Marshal StudioFounder2025 — PresentGlasgow, Scotland
- Running Marshal Studio, a small design and development studio working with funded startups.
- Fixed scope and fixed finish dates, with the same person designing the screens and writing the code.
- Shipping websites and web apps end to end across Next.js, TypeScript, Node.js and PostgreSQL.
Resolvo DevelopmentSoftware Engineer · Full-timeMar 2024 — Mar 2026Europe · Remote
- Delivered 40+ responsive client applications end to end in PHP, React and TypeScript, from requirements and technical design through testing, DNS and deployment to post-launch maintenance.
- Designed and built backend services and REST APIs, including newsletter and automated transactional email systems, on relational schemas modelled per client platform.
- Worked directly with non-technical clients to turn business requirements into technical specifications, shipping in short iterative cycles with regular review checkpoints.
- Provisioned and maintained 3–5 virtualised Proxmox servers hosting every client environment at around 97% uptime, splitting compute across VMs by per-site load.
- Ran CI/CD with GitHub Actions and Git branching with pull-request review across concurrent projects, keeping releases repeatable and auditable.
- Diagnosed production performance and availability issues across the estate, from slow database queries to server-level resource contention.

Things I've built
Under the hood
Edit, build, see it
ImGuiStudio compiles real Dear ImGui C++ to WebAssembly in under a second, so an agent sees the pixels its code produces.
No task left behind
FlowForge leases each task to a worker. When a heartbeat stops, the lease expires and another worker picks the task up.
Scored as it streams
Sentinel scores every event off Kafka with sub-second latency, and holds the outlier for an analyst to review.
Every webhook, exactly once
ToolMarket keys Stripe events by ID, so a retried delivery is recognised and skipped instead of paying out twice.
